The Homemaker will provide essential support to seniors residing in supportive and transitional housing who are facing complex challenges, including a history of homelessness, mental health, substance use, cognitive decline, dementia, and physical disabilities. The role is designed to assist tenants in maintaining their living environment and personal well-being, promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life. The Homemaker will work closely with the Living Standards Coordinator and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring tenants' living spaces meet the required standards while providing practical support for daily living tasks.

What You Bring to the Team
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional certifications in home care, social work, or mental health preferred).
- Experience: 2+ years’ experience working with older adults with mental health, addictions issues and street involvement.
- Work primarily in the supportive housing building.
- Ocasional evening or weekend shifts may be required.
- The role requires light to moderate physical activity, including walking, bending, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Prior experience working in a supportive housing setting, group home, or with individuals who have mental health, addiction, or mobility challenges.
- Compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to working with vulnerable populations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with tenants, colleagues, and external service providers.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations, including infection control practices.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Physical ability to perform light housekeeping and assist with mobility needs.
- Flexibility and adaptability in working with tenants with diverse needs.
- Experience or training in trauma-informed care or person-centered care.
- Knowledge of mental health and addiction recovery practices.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Might work in environments where there are pests.
- Might work in environments where clients use substances.
- Might work in environments wherein clients have incontinence issues.
- Clients may exhibit responsive behaviours including profanities and expletives.
