Program Overview
This role is expected to complement the Living Standards Coordinator by supporting them in unit cleans (deep cleans if/when required), de-clutter, junk outs, upkeep and unit turnovers etc., allowing the LS more capacity in coaching residents in maintaining their units, completing assessments, aiding with hoarding circumstances and engaging with other supports.

The role will also alleviate the burden on PSWs. The PSW capacity is limited due to the PSWs supporting very complex clients with concurrent mental health and mobility challenges and who lack ADL skills with light housekeeping and other interventions. The role is distinct from the PSW role in that it does not involve direct care or educational duties related to ADLs. It focuses specifically on cleaning and decluttering tasks beyond the scope of light housekeeping typically offered by PSWs.

What You Will Do
1. Cleaning and Decluttering:
  • Provide deep cleaning services in tenants' units, including but not limited to cleaning surfaces, floors, windows, kitchen appliances, and bathrooms.
  • Assist with decluttering units to prevent the buildup of unnecessary items that could lead to health or safety hazards.
  • Focus on maintaining cleanliness in areas that impact health, hygiene, and overall living standards, in accordance with program guidelines.
2. Collaboration with the Living Standards Coordinator:
  • Work alongside the Living Standards Coordinator to prioritize and assess cleaning and decluttering needs in tenant units.
  • Support the LSC in developing and maintaining individualized plans for unit maintenance, including any deep cleaning and organizing required for tenants with physical or cognitive limitations.
3. Pest Prevention and Health Safety:
  • Assist in minimizing the risk of pest infestations by maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in units.
  • Monitor and report any signs of pest issues or unhealthy living conditions to the Living Standards Coordinator for further action.
4. Tenant Interaction (Non-Care):
  • Engage with tenants in a respectful and professional manner, maintaining their dignity and privacy.
  • Provide basic assistance with organizing or moving items within the unit, with an emphasis on maintaining safety and cleanliness.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Document cleaning activities and report on any health, safety, or maintenance concerns to the Living Standards Coordinator or relevant staff.
  • Maintain records of completed tasks and assist with periodic reviews of tenants’ unit conditions.
6. Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Participate in team meetings or training as needed.
  • Assist with special projects or tasks related to unit cleanliness and maintenance

What You Bring to the Team
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of cleaning experience, preferably in a supportive housing or healthcare setting.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including seniors, individuals with complex mental health, substance use issues, and mobility challenges is an asset
What Will Set You Apart
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of cleaning protocols, including infection control and health and safety standards.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with tenants and other staff.
  • Physical Demands:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and moving items safely.
  • Comfortable working in a variety of environments and in conditions that may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Criminal record check (including vulnerable sector) as required by the program.
