Program Overview – Youth Justice Program
Turning Point Youth Services (TPYS) is an accredited, non-profit agency serving youth (12 to 24 years of age) and their families in the east end of Toronto. Turning Point’s mission is to empower youth to make positive change, an to accomplish this, it offers a continuum of services for youth and their families with a focus on mental health, housing/sheltering, and youth justice. Turning Point Youth Services and WoodGreen Community Services announced on July 2, 2024 the integration of the two organizations. The combination of these two agencies will enable a more effective and integrated approach to the provision of comprehensive support services for youth in the GTA.
Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals, counselling staff are trained and supported to provide effective mental health individual and family counselling services that are trauma-informed, inclusive, equitable, and responsive.
What You Will Do
- Promote a culturally safe and therapeutic environment and establish therapeutic relationships with clients consistent with the Agency Mission, Vision and Values.
- Using strength based and trauma informed approaches provide in person assessment and evidence informed mental health counselling services in the youth/family home and in the community.
- Participation and involvement with multi/inter disciplinary team.
- Service Coordination and Case management
- Referral to community services.
- Regular recording and maintenance of records as per agency standards and in accordance with privacy policies, legislation and required timeframes.
- Accurate and consistent entry of client activities into client information system
- Promote an environment of inclusion that promotes equity and respects diversity.
- Active Participation actively in team meetings.
- Participate in ongoing training and supervision sessions on a regular basis.
- Support and training of eligible student interns, if interested.
- Perform other duties as assigned
