Program Overview – Financial Planning & Analysis, Central Services
The Finance team is a central resource to the entire organization; responsible for payroll, accounts receivable and payable, and financial reporting. As our Senior Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for the processing of our semi-monthly payrolls, ensuring compliance with all applicable government regulations and company policies and procedures, for all legal entities. In addition, you will be responsible for the preparation of all month end/year end payroll and benefit journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.

What You Will Do
  • Process timely and accurate bi-weekly payrolls for all legal entities, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and legislations and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all payroll related payments, tax remittances and filings and government reporting are completed accurately and on time.
  • Ensure staff receive their year-end tax documents (e.g. T4s, W2s) by the deadline.
  • Prepare and ensure timely and accurate remittance of retirement contributions.
  • Prepare all month end & year end payroll and benefit journal entries, including accruals.
  • Ensure all payroll and benefit related accounts are timely and accurately reviewed and reconciled
  • Support with external financial audits.
  • Be the first point of contact for all employee inquiries related to payroll.
  • Perform various payroll related activities to support the business such as internal/external reporting requirements for various stakeholders.

What You Bring to the Team
  • College Diploma in Accounting or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in computerized payroll.
  • Canadian Payroll Association membership is an asset.

What Will Set You Apart
  • Strong understanding of payroll-related statutory regulations.
  • Strong data entry skills, with attention to both speed and accuracy.            
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in the use of spreadsheet software, with the ability to manipulate data for analytical purposes.
  • Knowledge of Quadrant HR payroll system an asset.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Team player, able to function effectively within a small team comprised of individuals from diverse cultures with individual working styles.
  • Able to work within tight deadlines and established payroll schedules.
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards, particularly as it pertains to pay and hours of work.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment, with understanding of Collective Agreements, considered an asset.
